A magnetic EMT conduit layout checklist

Check steel EMT compatibility, spacer labels, temporary positioning and layout measurements before choosing a magnetic conduit spacer.

A magnetic layout aid is most useful when its job is clear. It helps you position or compare a layout; it does not select a fastening system, verify a finished electrical installation or replace the measurements on your drawing.

1. Confirm the intended material

The YENDRE spacer illustration specifies magnetic hold on steel EMT. Do not assume identical hold on aluminum, PVC, coated surfaces or other tubing. Check the intended material and the piece's fit before relying on magnetic positioning.

2. Read both markings

Identify the conduit-size label and the C-C label separately. Match the pairing, not just the color. In the six-piece chart, one piece is labelled for mixed 1 inch and 3/4 inch EMT; that is different from an equal-size pairing. The spacing guide explains the chart and the distinction between center spacing and clear gap.

3. Inspect the contact areas

Look for debris, damage or an obstruction that stops the curved faces from seating as intended. If the piece does not sit consistently, investigate the fit rather than forcing it. Make a separate measurement of the layout instead of assuming the tool has seated correctly.

4. Keep temporary positioning temporary

The product illustration describes the pre-lock holes as positioning support before final fastening, and says screws are not included. It does not provide a permanent support rating. Follow the project requirements for the actual support and fastening system.

5. Compare more than one point

A check at one location does not establish that an entire run has the intended geometry. Compare the relevant points on the planned layout, and note where bends, obstructions or different conduit sizes change the arrangement. Leave final installation decisions to the responsible qualified installer.

6. Choose a set for the repeat work

Keep piece count, number of conduit positions and size range separate. The set comparison covers the three YD0053 options. Return the pieces to their storage arrangement after checking their condition so that their labels remain easy to find next time.
